Soul! on Thirteen

WNET/Thirteen (a PBS TV channel for the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut area) has just announced the upload of several of their Soul! programmes. For any fan of musics of black origin (as they call them in the UK) this is excellent news, and that includes jazz buffs.

This is what they say:
We will be digitizing as many of these episodes as we can, posting them to this site. However, a number of the shows on this list currently have the status of “lost”. We’re hoping that tapes of some of them will surface as the result of this endeavor of putting the show online. If you have tapes of any of these episodes, let us know.
See here for the complete list of episodes, and don't miss the ones featuring Max Roach's M-Boom and Roland Kirk, which are already available.

According to their site, they have Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Bobbi Humphrey, Hugh Masekela, McCoy Tyner, Tito Puente and Carmen McRae among many others coming up soon.

Enjoy!

~~~~~~~
WNET/Thirteen es un canal de la red de TV pública de EE. UU. que emite para los estados de Nueva York, Nueva Jersey y Connecticut. Entre 1968 y 1973 emitió un programa llamado Soul! dedicado a la música y otras facetas de la cultura afroamericana. La noticia es que se acaba de anunciar la publicación de diversos episodios en Internet.
Los fans de la música negra están de enhorabuena. Aunque en su website advierten que algunos de los episodios se dan por perdidos (y apelan a particulares que tengan vídeos del programa), la lista de episodios y artistas que sí van a poder verse es impresionante. Sólo en lo que respecta al jazz y aledaños vamos a poder ver a Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Bobbi Humphrey, Hugh Masekela, McCoy Tyner, Tito Puente y Carmen McRae.
De momento, nadie debería perderse al M-Boom de Max Roach y, especialmente, a Roland Kirk.
Que lo disfruten.
